Any visit to an exotic location is incomplete if shopping is not in the agenda and this applies to your Colombo tour as well. But it is very difficult to get the best bargain when there are so many shopping destinations around offering an exhaustive range of items right from camera to apparels and accessories.

However, there are some departmental stores in Colombo that offer you both branded products and handcrafted items.

Laksala

At 60 York Street is Laksala, Sri Lanka’s emporium for handicrafts. Drop at the complex anytime between 9am and 5pm in the weekdays and pick up objects made from metals, wood, natural fibers, bamboo and even reeds. Here you get a wide assortment of collectibles at pocket-friendly prices.

House of Fashion

You will go breathless at the House of Fashion because of its extensive range formal and casual outfits for teens, men and women. Visitors to Sri Lanka will leave their travel incomplete if nothing is picked from this store in Colombo 5.

Odel Unlimited

The avowed long-term vision of Odel is to develop a global reach and become Sri Lanka’s premier lifestyle product destination. And it is apparent in their extensive collection of fashion wear and formal wear. From sweeping gowns to designer suits to colorful embroidered sarees, everything is available at Odel’s main store and in the other stores across the country. 

Romafour

Romafour is another shopping hub of Colombo, though a little off the main commercial center of the town. This place is visited by tourists who are high on fashion and look for costumes that are out-of-the-way and yet eye-catching.

Liberty Plaza

However, if one is looking for the most impressive array of products and the best bargain, Liberty Plaza will be the ultimate shop spot. This multi-storey building, fully air-conditioned, has innumerable outlets and visitors can get anything they desire.
